Ahmedabad is feeling the burn. The state of Gujarat is currently sweltering under extreme summer heat, with temperatures in several locations nearing or exceeding 40°C. This morning’s weather report confirms that Rajkot recorded the highest temperature at a blistering 41.9°C, which is a staggering 2.5°C above the seasonal average.
Ahemdabad didn’t escape the heat either, hitting a maximum of 40.4°C, just slightly warmer than usual by 0.5°C. Other cities aren’t faring any better; Amreli reached 40.3°C while Bhuj and Gandhinagar reported highs of 39.7°C and 39.6°C respectively.
Even Vadodara and Deesa joined the list with maximum temperatures close to those levels—39.4°C and 39.3°C respectively—demonstrating that inland regions are experiencing widespread sweltering conditions.
In contrast, coastal areas like Dwarka managed to stay relatively cool, recording a high of only 31.2°C thanks to maritime breezes, while Diu was slightly warmer at 32.7°C and Veraval hit around 32.0°C.
The humidity levels also vary significantly across regions: coastal cities such as Dwarka enjoy higher humidity in the mornings but inland areas like Rajkot experience much lower evening humidity levels, making the heat feel even more oppressive.
This spike in temperature raises concerns about continuing heatwave-like conditions in Gujarat over the next few days, as data suggests that many inland spots are facing above-normal temperatures.
