Ahmedabad is gearing up for rising temperatures with a new AI-based heat tracking system, as the civic body has identified 41 heat hotspots across the city—mostly in industrial zones.
Developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the system uses satellite data and machine learning to map areas likely to record the highest temperatures between Friday and Monday. Major hotspots include Narol, Vatva GIDC, Naroda industrial areas, Odhav estate, the Pirana landfill, regions around Chandola Lake, and parts of Ramol and Gota.
Officials said these locations are largely industrial or high-activity zones, where concrete surfaces, limited green cover, and heavy vehicular and machinery movement contribute to higher daytime temperatures.
In a first, residents can access this data directly through a QR code and website link. The platform will display area-wise temperatures, particularly during peak heat hours from 12 pm to 5 pm, with updates every three days based on fresh satellite data.
