A delegation from Commonwealth Sport has arrived in Gujarat to assess preparations for the proposed 2030 Commonwealth Games, expected to be hosted in Ahmedabad and other parts of the state.The five-member team, led by president Donald Rukare, will be in Gujarat from April 8 to 11, along with officials from the Indian Olympic Association.During the visit, the delegation will inspect key venues identified for the Games, including Narendra Modi Stadium, EKA Arena, Statue of Unity, Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, and Vadodara Cricket Stadium.
The visit began with a meeting between the delegation, including CEO Katie Sadleir, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar.Patel assured full support from the state government, promising timely development of infrastructure and facilities for the successful hosting of the Games.
The delegation also invited the chief minister to attend the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for observation and planning.
Patel accepted the invitation and said a Gujarat team would visit to study preparations.
