Ahead of the March 31 deadline, Amdavad Municipal Corporation launched an intensive drive to recover pending property tax, sealing 6,526 residential and commercial properties on Friday alone.
The civic body recovered Rs. 11.15 crore through the action.
Zone-wise figures showed the highest number of sealings in the West Zone (2,821), followed by the Central Zone (1,432).
According to officials, recoveries across zones on Friday were as follows:
Central Zone: 1,432 properties sealed; Rs. 2.99 crore recovered
North Zone: 224 properties sealed; Rs. 86 lakh recovered
South Zone: 431 properties sealed; Rs. 1.55 crore recovered
East Zone: 362 properties sealed; Rs. 1.58 crore recovered
West Zone: 2,821 properties sealed; Rs. 1.50 crore recovered
North-West Zone: 1,170 properties sealed; Rs. 1.78 crore recovered
South-West Zone: 86 properties sealed; Rs. 89 lakh recovered
The corporation’s total tax revenue has now crossed Rs. 2,297.15 crore.
As of March 27, the civic body collected Rs. 1,764.10 crore from property tax and Rs. 271.46 crore from professional tax, achieving 101% and 100% of their respective targets. Vehicle tax collections stood at Rs. 235.68 crore, taking the overall tax revenue achievement to around 108%.
Officials said the aggressive recovery drive reflects the corporation’s push to maximise tax collection before the end of the financial year.
