Surat is preparing for significant changes at its railway station as modernization work kicks off on March 30, 2026. This redevelopment project will introduce a new U-roof structure linking platforms 2, 3, and 4, according to railway officials.
The upgrades come with a Traffic Working Order (TWO) that will last for 30 days, impacting the operation of several long-distance trains. During this time, some services will shift from Surat to Udhna station.
Train No. 12935 Bandra Terminus–Surat Intercity Express will terminate at Udhna instead of Surat from March 30 through April 28. Additionally, the 20925 Surat–Amravati Superfast Express will leave from Udhna on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays between April 2 and April 26.
The 20926 Amravati–Surat Superfast Express, meanwhile, will only operate up to Udhna on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays during the same timeframe; it won’t run between Udhna and Surat at all.
This temporary adjustment in train operations is necessary to ensure that the redevelopment work proceeds safely and on schedule. Authorities emphasized that these changes are vital for completing the project effectively.
