The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad on Thursday inaugurated the Krishnamurthy Tandon School of Artificial Intelligence on its campus. The new school aims to combine advanced artificial intelligence research with management expertise to tackle complex challenges across industry, government, and society, while preparing future-ready leaders.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon, an Indian-American philanthropist, business leader, and IIM-A alumna, along with Board of Governors chairperson Pankaj Patel, Director Prof. Bharat Bhasker, and Ramesh Mangaleswaran, besides senior faculty members and invited guests.
The school has been set up through an endowment of ₹100 crore by Chandrika Tandon and her husband Ranjan Tandon. According to the institute, the initiative is envisioned as a world-class platform that will leverage artificial intelligence alongside IIM Ahmedabad’s management expertise to develop practical solutions, improve decision-making, boost productivity, and address pressing challenges across sectors.
The institute said the school will focus on translational and applied AI research, with a strong emphasis on converting technological advancements into real-world applications. It aims to bridge cutting-edge AI research with managerial and societal contexts, generating globally relevant knowledge rooted in Indian realities. Through its focus on research, education, and industry collaboration, the school seeks to nurture leaders equipped with technical expertise, managerial insight, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
