A Dignified Goodbye for Our Furry Friends
So, losing a pet hits different, right? It’s like losing part of your family. But in Ahmedabad, there’s a place that’s helping families say goodbye with some dignity and love. The CNG-fired crematorium in Behrampura started operating this year, and it’s been busy—108 dogs have already been cremated there.
And get this—the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) noticed how many people are turning to them for these services. So now they’re planning two new crematoriums—one in the east and another on the west side of the city. They’re putting around Rs 60 lakh into it, which they’d just floated tenders for!
Like one touching story? A dog named Tiger, who was loved endlessly by his owner, Ramchandra Vaghela—which is super heart-wrenching—was cremated here. The family got his ashes back in an earthen urn; you can imagine all those emotions packed into that moment. They even took the ashes to Narayan Ghat at the Sabarmati Riverfront for immersion.
Ngl, people don’t only come from Ahmedabad. Pet owners from places like Gandhinagar and Rajkot—even Udaipur are choosing to bring their pets here for their last ride!
Honestly? It’s not just about goodbyes. Over 32 families have donated Rs 1.06 lakh to AMC as a tribute to their pets! And did you know? There are currently almost 19,347 registered dogs with AMC across 17,017 owners—talk about community vibes! This facility is built pretty smart too; it can handle up to three dogs at once while keeping things clean and odor-free.
