GIFT City Set to Get a New Pedestrian Bridge
So, GIFT City in Gandhinagar is about to level up with a brand-new foot-over bridge that’s gonna look a lot like the famous Atal Bridge over in Ahmedabad. Like, how cool is that? The Gujarat International Finance Tec-City Company Limited (GIFTCL) just dropped news that they’re inviting bids for a principal consultant who’s gonna handle all the architectural and structural design stuff for this awesome pedestrian bridge.
This bridge is part of the whole Sabarmati Riverfront expansion project that’ll connect Ahmedabad with Gandhinagar and, of course, GIFT City. It’s set to be around 470 meters long—so it should give a nice view when it’s done. They’re hoping it’ll become some kind of landmark too, which sounds pretty epic for the skyline.
According to all the tender docs floating around, whoever gets picked as the consultant will need to cook up complete designs and handle everything from concept sketches to structural analysis (which is kinda wild). Like, they’ll have to consider soil conditions and do all these load calculations for things like wind and earthquakes. No pressure though, right?
They’ll also need to whip up detailed engineering drawings, cost estimates—basically make sure every little detail is covered before construction kicks off. Oh—and during construction? Yup, they’ll be on-site checking things out and making sure everything’s up to par.
The timeline looks pretty tight too—with design work expected to wrap up in about 20-22 weeks once they’re officially on board. Construction support will roll out separately after that—lots of layers here for this project!
