So, guess what? Sardar Vallabhbhai Global University just put on this dope play called Vande Matram at their amphitheatre, and it was packed—like full-house vibes!
It was directed by Alok Gagdekar, who’s an NSD alum (which is kinda impressive), and the script came from Aalap Tripathi. And you know what’s cool? This whole performance drew inspiration from Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s epic novel Anandamath. Like, that little detail makes it all even more meaningful, right?
This is actually the first time the play has been staged in Gujarat—can you believe that? The production came together after a solid 25-day workshop focused on getting everything just right. That’s a pretty intense setup for just a 40-minute show! People really got to see some serious talent come alive on stage.
No literally tho, it sounds like they pulled off something special here and showed how important cultural performances are for campuses. It’s like art connecting people and sparking conversations. All I can say is I hope there are more events like this coming up because who doesn’t love live performances that celebrate our roots?
