Ahmedabad’s Food Department has penalized Como by Kaffa restaurant ₹50,000 following a hygiene complaint. On March 18, 2026, a customer reported discovering a dead fly in their garlic bread.
In response to the complaint, the Senior Food Safety Officer inspected the restaurant located on Sindhubhavan Road. The inspection revealed that Como by Kaffa held a valid FSSAI license valid until September 21, 2030. They also had recently conducted pest control through an approved agency on March 2, which is effective for one month. Additionally, the establishment maintained an active contract for kitchen waste disposal.
After verifying details with the complainant—who couldn’t be present due to prior commitments—the AMC found grounds for action. Based on their findings, officials issued a notice under the GPMC Act citing negligence and imposed the fine.
The AMC collected food samples from the restaurant for testing at the Public Health Laboratory as part of its compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006. “Strict action will be taken against those compromising public health,” an AMC spokesperson stated.
