As summer kicks off, Vadodara is already feeling the sting of a heat wave. On Monday, temperatures spiked to a sweltering 40.4°C. Just weeks ago, on March 8, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 39.4°C. The rapid increase has many residents and wildlife alike bracing for the effects.
This surge in heat isn’t just uncomfortable; it poses real challenges for local animals and birds. To combat these harsh conditions at Kamati Bagh, caretakers have set up nets around animal enclosures and are spraying water to help cool them down.
Today’s forecast isn’t promising either, with meteorologists predicting temperatures could reach as high as 41°C. “The heat affects everyone,” one local resident said. “We need to keep our pets and wildlife safe.”
Efforts at Sayaji Bagh mirror those at Kamati Bagh, where similar measures are being taken to ensure that birds and animals can find some relief from the relentless sun.
