Gujarat is sweltering under extreme heat, with temperatures hitting alarming highs across the state. On Tuesday, Rajkot recorded a staggering maximum temperature of 42.0°C, making it the hottest city in Gujarat, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Ahmedabad wasn’t far behind, reaching 41.4°C—7.2 degrees above the normal for this time of year. The minimum temperature there also climbed to an uncomfortable 22.5°C, up by 4.6 degrees compared to usual levels.
Other cities are suffering too. Baroda and Deesa both hit 41.0°C, while Bhuj reached the same scorching level of 41.0°C as well. Porbandar reported temperatures at 40.9°C; Gandhinagar and Veraval were close behind at 40.8°C each; Surat recorded 40.2°C; and Amreli stood at a balmy 40.3°C.
This intense heat wave has affected nearly every corner of the state, with many locations seeing temperatures rise between 5 to 9 degrees above seasonal norms.
The coastal areas aren’t escaping either—Bhavnagar logged a temperature of 39.6°C and Kandla reached nearly as high at 39.5°C.
