Ahmedabad is feeling the heat early this March, with temperatures soaring across Gujarat. On March 4, several cities reported maximum temperatures reaching close to 39°C, well above the seasonal average.
The India Meteorological Department released a report at 8:30 AM today indicating that many areas saw temperature spikes of between 3°C and 5.6°C over normal levels. Rajkot topped the list with a blistering high of 39.2°C—5.1°C above its usual range.
Other cities followed suit: Deesa recorded a high of 38.8°C (up by 5.6°C) while Ahmedabad reached a sweltering 38.6°C—4.8°C higher than normal.
Amreli hit temperatures of 38.3°C, and both Vadodara and Gandhinagar reported highs of 38.0°C each, contributing to an overall trend of unusually warm weather for this time of year.
Even coastal towns aren’t escaping the heat, as Porbandar logged temperatures of up to 37.6°C.
The minimum temperatures aren’t any cooler either; Ahmedabad registered a low of 22.5°C, which is about 5 degrees higher than typical figures for early March.
Humidity stayed moderate throughout the morning hours while rainfall remained absent across the state.
Meteorologists warn that these elevated temperatures signal an earlier-than-usual onset of summer conditions in Gujarat—and they expect these high readings to continue in the coming days.
