Traffic
Ahead of the annual Fagun Sud Poonam fair at Dakor, city police in Ahmedabad have announced temporary traffic restrictions and diversions to ensure smooth vehicular movement and prevent congestion.
The fair, scheduled from February 27 to March 4, 2026, is expected to attract a large number of pilgrims travelling to Dakor for darshan. With a surge in traffic anticipated on routes connecting to the Ahmedabad–Mehmedabad highway and nearby arterial roads, authorities have imposed precautionary curbs on select stretches.
Roads Under Restriction
As per the official notification, the following routes will face traffic curbs:
- The stretch between Jashodanagar Cross Roads and Vinkol Cross Roads (Lal Gebi Circle side), where one carriageway will remain closed to all vehicles.
- The road from Ramol Cross Roads to the Vatva New Railway Bridge, which will be completely shut for vehicular movement.
- The route from Jashodanagar Cross Roads towards the overbridge near Ghodasar–Isanpur and its connecting roads, where restrictions will also be enforced.
Alternate Routes and Exemptions
To ease congestion, vehicles travelling between Vinkol Cross Roads and Jashodanagar Cross Roads will be allowed to use the open side of the road in a regulated manner. Two-wheelers and light motor vehicles may be permitted on certain alternative stretches, depending on on-ground traffic conditions.
Motorists may also be diverted via the Sardar Patel Ring Road and Narol Circle to reach their destinations.
Emergency services — including ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and essential government service vehicles — will be exempt from the restrictions. Vehicles carrying essential goods and services related to the fair will also be allowed as required.
The order has been issued under provisions of the Gujarat Police Act and will remain effective from February 27 until midnight on March 4, 2026.
Police have urged citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel, adhere to diversion signage and plan their travel in advance to avoid inconvenience during the fair period.
