Surat: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating light rain and thundershowers in parts of Gujarat over the next couple of days. Following unexpected rainfall earlier this week, isolated districts including Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Narmada, Dang, and Tapi are likely to see similar weather patterns.
The IMD’s bulletin noted that rain is expected in Bhavnagar and Amreli districts within Saurashtra as well. This precipitation is anticipated to last until 8:30 AM on Thursday. Meanwhile, the rest of Gujarat—including the Union Territories of Diu, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli—should not expect rainfall during this period.
Moving forward, dry weather is expected to dominate across all districts from February 26 to March 4. There’s no significant change in temperature forecasts either; both maximum and minimum temperatures should remain steady over the coming week.
Weather Conditions Explained
The IMD elaborated on several synoptic conditions affecting local weather. An upper air cyclonic circulation currently exists over the northeast Arabian Sea near Saurashtra and Kutch at altitudes between 1.5 km and 3.1 km above sea level.
A trough stretches from South Interior Karnataka to Marathwada through northwest Tamil Nadu into Madhya Maharashtra at approximately 0.9 km above mean sea level. Additional cyclonic circulations are also observed over southwest Rajasthan and Madhya Maharashtra at similar heights.

In light of potential thunderstorms or rain activities, authorities urge residents to exercise caution. Strong winds could pose risks to fragile structures, crops, and gardens. Staying indoors during storms is advisable; people should avoid seeking shelter under trees or near water bodies during adverse conditions.
