A devastating fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a row house in the Krishnanagari society of Bakeri City, Vejalpur, resulting in the deaths of two individuals—a young child and an elderly woman.
The blaze erupted at House No. 4 while the family was asleep, spreading quickly and filling the home with thick smoke. Residents were caught off guard, and despite their attempts to react, two occupants suffered severe burn injuries.
Local residents called for help, prompting multiple fire tenders to rush to the scene. Firefighters worked tirelessly to control the flames during a challenging rescue operation. Unfortunately, they discovered an elderly woman and a child trapped inside. Both were pulled from the burning structure but later succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined as officials investigate. Initial reports suggest it may have been triggered by a short circuit, but local police and fire department personnel are conducting thorough inquiries alongside experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
This heartbreaking incident has raised fresh concerns about fire safety measures in residential areas throughout Ahmedabad.
