The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) is constructing a 12-km road connecting Jaspur–Khodiyar to Kalol at an estimated cost of ₹80 crore, with around 50% of the work already completed. The remaining work will proceed after government approval of TP Scheme 16.
Once completed, the road will provide direct connectivity between the SP Ring Road and Kalol, reducing the need for commuters from eastern parts of the city to travel via Adalaj. The 60-metre-wide road, equipped with footpaths, is expected to improve movement for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Officials said the new link road is likely to cut travel time between the SP Ring Road and Kalol to about five minutes and benefit nearly one lakh commuters. The project is expected to be completed within the next six months and is also likely to boost real estate demand in Kalol.
Road network expansion planned
Kalol is being developed as a satellite township, with plans to build a wider road network ranging from 18 to 45 metres. Improved connectivity with Ahmedabad is expected to make travel easier to areas such as Satellite, Thaltej, Sarkhej and Bodakdev, while better government transport connectivity will further support infrastructure development in the region.
