Junagadh, Gujarat — In anticipation of the Mahashivratri Mela, which begins tomorrow and spans five days, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has announced extensive transportation arrangements aimed at accommodating the influx of devotees. The fair is expected to draw a large number of visitors, prompting GSRTC to enhance its services significantly compared to last year.
Last year, GSRTC facilitated approximately 2.91 lakh passengers during the event. This year, the corporation aims to support around 3.70 lakh passengers by operating more than 7,800 trips with the addition of 195 extra buses.
Among these, 80 buses will provide daily service between the Junagadh bus station and the Girnar foothills, a popular destination for pilgrims. Additionally, 115 express buses will connect devotees from surrounding districts—65 from Junagadh division and 50 from other divisions—ensuring inter-district access.
To maintain safety and efficiency, all buses will be monitored via GPS around the clock throughout the duration of the fair. This initiative underscores GSRTC’s commitment to providing reliable transport, allowing Shiva devotees to attend the Bhavnath Mahashivratri fair and have darshan of Mahadev without significant travel-related inconvenience.
As the event approaches, local officials emphasize the importance of these transport arrangements. “We want to ensure that every devotee has a smooth experience traveling to the fair,” said a GSRTC spokesperson. With these measures in place, the Mahashivratri Mela promises to be a well-organized event for all attendees.
