Junagadh, Gujarat — The annual Bhavnath Mahashivratri Fair is set to begin on February 11, 2026, at the foothills of Mount Girnar, drawing thousands of devotees in a vibrant blend of faith, culture, and nature dedicated to Lord Mahadev. The five-day event will kick off with the ceremonial hoisting of the flag at the revered Bhavnath Temple.
In anticipation of significant attendance, the Gujarat Pavitra Yatra Dham Vikas Board and local authorities have implemented extensive arrangements to support the influx of visitors. These efforts include the establishment of multiple public facilities aimed at ensuring a smooth experience for pilgrims.
Damru Yatra: A Historic First
This year marks a notable addition to the fair’s tradition with the introduction of the Damru Yatra, a grand procession expected to showcase the region’s rich spiritual heritage. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will lead the event, which will see daughters from diverse communities welcoming saints while carrying sacred kalash.
The Damru Yatra is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM on February 11, traversing a 400-meter path from the Bhavnath entrance gate to the temple, culminating in a grand Maha Aarti.
Facilities for Devotees
To accommodate the large number of pilgrims, the Gujarat Holy Pilgrimage Development Board has constructed a substantial German dome that can house approximately 800-850 devotees. The facility spans nearly 2,000 square meters and includes 700 beds, 150 floor bedding options, and comprehensive amenities such as 24-hour housekeeping and medical assistance.
Logistics and Public Safety Measures
Parking will be available at 25 designated locations, including Uparkot and Panjrapol, with each area equipped with CCTV surveillance, drinking water, and restroom facilities. The local administration has also formed a district-level parking committee to manage logistics effectively.
Efforts to enhance public safety include round-the-clock police presence, sanitation services, and a transport system designed to facilitate movement toward the Bhavnath Temple from key points.
Cultural Highlights and Attractions
The fair promises an array of cultural programs, light-and-sound shows, and the traditional royal bathing ceremony at Mrigikund. These events, along with the procession of saints, are anticipated to be among the highlights of this year’s celebrations.
As the fair approaches, the entire area is being transformed into a vibrant space decorated in homage to Lord Bholenath, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
