The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has granted provisional approval to 16 new secondary and higher secondary schools across the state ahead of the upcoming academic year, further expanding the education infrastructure. This is in addition to the 13 approvals issued in January.
According to the board’s circular, the new schools will be set up in districts including Panchmahals, Navsari, Mehsana, Kutch, Banaskantha, Rajkot, Bharuch, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Kheda.
Of the 16 approved schools, 14 will be English-medium, while only two will be Gujarati-medium — a secondary school in Panchmahals and Vidya Mandir at Vinchhiya in Rajkot. The board also rejected proposals for 12 new schools under the same resolution.
