Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday evening inaugurated the remaining stretch of Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro, completing an important transport link between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
The newly opened section connects Sector 10A in Gandhinagar with the Mahatma Mandir convention centre. The Prime Minister flagged off the metro service from the Mahatma Mandir metro station, officially launching operations on this stretch in the state capital, as per a release issued by the Gujarat government.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi accompanied the Prime Minister during the inauguration.
The Phase 2 corridor passes through key locations including the Sachivalaya complex, Akshardham Temple, old Sachivalaya, and sectors 16 and 24. This extension forms part of the Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar Metro project.
It may be recalled that Modi had earlier inaugurated the metro service connecting the two cities in September 2024. Following Sunday’s inauguration, Chief Minister Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Sanghavi travelled by metro to Sachivalaya, the release added.
