Winter has tightened its grip on Gujarat, with biting cold winds and minimum temperatures dropping below 11°C in most major cities. Naliya remained the coldest place in the state, recording a bone-chilling 3.8°C on Sunday.
The sharp dip follows heavy snowfall in the Himalayan region, which has sent cold northerly winds sweeping across Gujarat. As a result, both maximum and minimum temperatures have fallen by one to three degrees across the state over the past 48 hours.
Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 12.1°C on Sunday. Amreli saw a steep drop to 7.6°C, while Gandhinagar and Rajkot recorded 9.5°C and 8.9°C respectively. Just across the border, the popular hill station of Mount Abu turned into a “mini Kashmir,” with temperatures plunging below freezing.
