The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Friday granted provisional approval to 13 new schools across the state, including one school each in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Board officials said that permission was denied to five schools during the meeting. Around 200 applications were received to start new schools from the 2026 academic year, out of which 18 proposals were discussed and 13 were approved to begin academic activities from the upcoming year.
Of the approved schools, four will offer science stream education, while nine will run general stream courses. Five schools will function in the Gujarati medium, while eight will offer education in English.
