In a move set to benefit parents seeking greater transparency, the education department has decided to publish detailed fee-related orders of private schools on an official portal from the start of the new academic session in June 2026. Parents and students will be able to view not only the approved fee structures but also the full orders explaining how those fees were determined.
The department will place in the public domain all fee orders issued by district-level Fee Regulation Committees (FRCs) as well as rulings of the state-level Fee Revision Committee. The initiative aims to bring clarity to the fee-fixation process for private schools across Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot.
The Gujarat government had enacted the Fee Determination Act in 2017 to regulate private school fees and had promised that documents submitted by schools, along with fee orders, would be made available online. However, for nearly eight years, these details remained largely undisclosed. In recent months, approved fee details for private schools in most districts, including Ahmedabad, have been uploaded on the FRC website, allowing parents to check fee amounts.
Taking the process a step further, the education department has now issued a fresh resolution stating that detailed FRC orders passed on applications from private schools in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot will be uploaded on the portal. Orders issued by the state-level Fee Revision Committee on appeals against FRC decisions will also be made public.
Currently, parents can only access the final approved fee amounts. Once the full orders are published, they will also be able to review the expenses claimed by schools and understand the reasoning behind fee approvals. Officials said the move marks a significant step towards transparency and accountability in private school fee regulation.
