A 25-year-old pedestrian lost his life on Sunday after being hit by a speeding motorcycle on CG Road, one of Ahmedabad’s busiest commercial areas, police said.
The victim, identified as Prakashchandra Dindor, was walking near Mardia Plaza when a motorcycle allegedly being ridden at high speed struck him. Police said the biker, identified as Sufiyan Mustafa, was reportedly performing stunts and lost control of the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses and local residents said the motorcycle suddenly swerved before crashing into Dindor, throwing him onto the road. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
Passers-by immediately informed the police, following which traffic and local police teams reached the scene. The body was later sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered against the biker under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. The accused has been detained for questioning, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, including the speed of the motorcycle and whether the rider was under the influence of alcohol or any other substance.
Traffic police officials said CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed and eyewitness statements are being recorded. Senior officials warned that reckless riding and stunt-driving on public roads pose a serious danger to pedestrians and other commuters, and strict action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
