Students and faculty members in Ahmedabad will welcome New Year 2026 by spending time with the blind community at Andhjan Mandal in Navrangpura. The initiative is being organised by Prayas Charity with Smile from GLS-FOC, a charity group active since 1999.
For the past 12–13 years, the group has marked the New Year with social service instead of traditional celebrations. Each year, they choose a different cause. Last year, they distributed school kits to municipal school students.
This year, the group will gift jewellery to members of the blind community and spend quality time with them. Organisers said the aim is to spread love, respect and humanity, not just to give gifts.
Around 12,000 to 13,000 has been collected through donations from 50 to 60 students, which will be fully used for the programme. The initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to starting the New Year with compassion and social responsibility.
