A man in Surat narrowly escaped death on Christmas Day after falling from the 10th floor of a residential building and getting caught on a window grill on the 8th floor. The dramatic incident, which occurred in broad daylight, was captured on video and has since gone viral.
According to reports, the man slipped from the 10th floor of the building and plunged downwards before his fall was abruptly halted when he became stuck on an external window grill two floors below. Eyewitnesses described a tense situation as the man dangled precariously above the ground, prompting residents to immediately alert emergency services.
Fire brigade teams and police rushed to the spot and launched a swift rescue operation. Using ladders, ropes and coordinated support from residents of the 8th-floor apartment, rescuers managed to safely pull the man to safety after several anxious minutes. He remained conscious throughout the ordeal and was later shifted to a nearby hospital for medical examination. Officials said he did not suffer any serious injuries.
The incident has renewed conversations around safety in high-rise buildings. While window grills are generally installed for security, in this unusual case, one played a crucial role in preventing a fatal fall, underscoring the importance of safety precautions in multi-storey residential complexes.
