The annual Kankaria Carnival, scheduled from December 25 to 31, will feature several new attractions this year. Along with the popular drone show, the carnival will introduce a pet fashion show and a pyro show for the first time.
Although the pyro show was planned last year, it could not be held as the carnival was cancelled after two days following the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
This year’s festivities will include cultural programmes featuring performances by well-known Gujarati artists such as Kirtidan Gadhvi, Geeta Rabari, Ishani Dave, Parth Oza and Brijraj Gadhvi, along with live music by Sanket Khandekar. Workshops on jewellery making, social media, and magic shows will also be part of the event.
Attempt at a Guinness World Record
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) aims to create a new Guinness World Record for the largest balloon mosaic. Over 3,500 employees will take part in assembling the mosaic featuring the carnival logo. The current record is held by Japan’s Panasonic Group, where 1,760 participants created a balloon mosaic in April 2024.
