Vatva Railway Station is undergoing a massive transformation as the Railways develop it into Ahmedabad’s second-largest station after Kalupur. The upgrade aims to reduce the load on Kalupur and improve train movement across the city.
The station, which currently has three platforms, will get six more—taking the total to nine and allowing it to handle up to 51 trains a day. Spread across 3 km, the upcoming coaching terminal will include 12 pit lines, 29 stabling lines, two washing lines for rake cleaning, and two 600-metre lines for coach repairs.
Located near key industrial pockets like Vatva, Naroda and Kathwada GIDC, the revamped station is expected to improve both commuter convenience and regional connectivity.

- Dec 16: Ahmedabad–Gorakhpur Express to run only till Varanasi
- Dec 17: Gorakhpur–Ahmedabad Express to start from Varanasi; Ahmedabad arrival delayed by 4 hours
- Dec 15: Darbhanga–Ahmedabad Special to run via Ghazipur–Jaunpur; will skip Shahganj and Ayodhya Cantt
- Dec 19: Okha–Tuticorin Vivek Express to run only up to Kovilpatti
- Dec 21: Return Vivek Express from Tuticorin to start from Kovilpatti
