Even as Kalupur Railway Station undergoes a 2,383-crore redevelopment to become a world-class transit hub, passengers continue to face basic facility issues.
On Friday night, multiple escalators stopped working, forcing commuters to walk down to the platforms with heavy bags. Elderly passengers were the worst affected. Many travellers also complained about inadequate or missing signages inside the station.
Parasbhai, a passenger from Surat travelling with his parents in their 70s, said, “My father got lost in the crowd because of unclear directions, and with the escalator near Gate No. 1 not working, it became very difficult for my mother to reach our platform.”
Another passenger said that while redevelopment is appreciated, commuters should not have to suffer during the process.
