IndiGo Airlines continued to face severe operational disruptions for the fourth straight day, leading to widespread flight cancellations across Gujarat and leaving thousands of passengers stranded at airports in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat.
At Ahmedabad airport, frustrated passengers protested and raised slogans like “Indigo chor hai, murdabad,” accusing the airline of failing to provide timely updates. Many had waited over 12 hours before being informed that their flights were cancelled or indefinitely delayed.
The disruptions, triggered by internal issues and a shortage of pilots, severely affected flight schedules statewide.
In Vadodara, cancellations of flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Goa caused chaos.
Rajkot saw eight IndiGo flights cancelled, including departures to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Goa.
In Surat, one morning flight from Hyderabad was cancelled, another diverted, and later flights from Bengaluru, Jaipur, Goa and Kolkata had no fixed schedule, disrupting return flights as well.
Cancelled flights from Ahmedabad:
- Delhi: 5293, 6694, 6189
- Srinagar: 6265, 6266
- Goa: 281
- Mumbai: 802
- Pune: 819
Delayed flights from Ahmedabad:
- Indore: 391
- Dubai: 015
- Bengaluru: 823
- Purnia: 619
- London: 160
- Abu Dhabi: 244
- Mumbai: 6477, 5251, 5189
- Goa: 6419
- Hyderabad: 883
- Pune: 547
IndiGo has yet to clarify when normal operations will resume. The airline has blamed the crisis on a pilot shortage and pressure from the winter schedule, saying it has sought partial relaxation of the new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms. Full stabilisation, it said, may take until February 2026.
