Thousands of Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in Gujarat may lose their post-matric scholarships because their KYC verification on the Digital Gujarat portal for 2023–24 and 2024–25 is still incomplete.
Colleges offering BEd, MSW, BCom, nursing and other courses have urged the Tribal Development Department to reopen the portal so affected students can finish their applications.
Despite several deadline extensions, many ST students were unable to submit forms due to bank-linked KYC issues. As a result, several have not received scholarships for the last two years.
The government had earlier asked district offices to clear pending cases for 2022–23 and 2023–24 by November 30, and for 2024–25 by December 31. While the 2025–26 portal is open, colleges say many students still cannot apply until their unresolved KYC problems are fixed.
