GIFT City is taking steps to move beyond its ‘concrete jungle’ image by launching major infrastructure upgrades aimed at providing more recreational and social spaces for its growing workforce and student community.
Officials said work has begun on a 27-acre Central Park to enhance the business district’s green cover. Alongside this, new sports facilities—including a soccer field, box cricket, pickleball, basketball, and a golf driving range—are planned, along with cycling and jogging tracks.
Managing Director and Group CEO Sanjay Kaul said the sports amenities are expected to be ready by March 2026, with tenders already finalised and work set to be awarded soon. He added that the Central Park tender has also been awarded and the development is expected to be completed within a year.
Students have welcomed these initiatives. Aman Singh, pursuing a Master’s in FinTech at the University of Wollongong’s campus in GIFT City, said that having sports and leisure spaces within the SEZ will be a “blessing” for students.
