A 27-year-old physiotherapist died by suicide on Friday evening after jumping from the ninth floor of a commercial building in Surat’s Sarthana area, causing shock in the neighbourhood.
Police said the woman, Radhika Kotadiya from Valak Patiya, ran a private clinic and had gone to the Atithi Commercial Complex near Sarthana Jakatnaka. She was at the “Chai Partner” café on the ninth floor when she suddenly got up and jumped before anyone could stop her.
She suffered severe injuries in the fall and was declared dead on the spot by the 108 emergency team. A crowd gathered soon after the incident.
Police said Radhika had recently gotten engaged, but the reason behind her action is still not known. Her phone has been seized, and statements from her family are being recorded as part of the investigation.
