Dog-bite incidents in Ahmedabad are on the rise, with Sola Civil Hospital recording an average of 12 new cases daily. Hospital data reveals that more than 3,500 fresh dog-bite cases have been registered so far this year.
Doctors say the highest spike typically occurs between November and February, a period when dogs become more protective due to the birth of puppies. This heightened alertness often results in increased attacks on people.
Last year, the hospital logged 4,265 new cases and over 15,600 follow-up visits for vaccination doses. In 2024, January reported the highest number of cases at 508, followed by December with 458.
