The Gujarat government has revised its Research Fellowship and Financial Assistance Scheme to promote research in higher and technical education.
Under the new structure, projects in Science and Technology will get up to 3.5 lakh, Commerce and Arts up to 2 lakh, and Languages up to 1 lakh. Earlier, all projects received up to 3 lakh uniformly.
The scheme now covers professors, assistant professors, principals, librarians, and physical training instructors, expanding eligibility beyond teaching staff. Applicants must score at least 60 out of 100 in a research evaluation test to qualify.
A Subject Expert Committee under the Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG) will conduct the screening based on criteria like research question, methodology, and results.
The revised scheme covers 47 subjects across three categories and provides aid ranging from 50,000 for minor projects to 3.5 lakh for major ones. The government has allocated 1.8 crore for 94 research projects.
