Digitally signed birth and death certificates will now be accepted as valid documents for all official work in Gujarat. The state government has instructed all government, semi-government, and other offices to mandatorily recognize these certificates.
According to a Health Department circular, certificates issued through the Central Government’s Civil Registration System (CRS) Portal include the digital signature of the registrar or sub-registrar. These are automatically emailed to citizens and can also be obtained from the registrar’s office if needed.
Previously, registrations in Gujarat were done through the E-Olakh application. Since September 1, 2025, all registrations have been shifted entirely to the CRS Portal.
