A controversy has erupted at Sola Civil Hospital after a video went viral showing a woman resident doctor from the paediatrics department allegedly refusing to treat a sick child.
The child’s uncle, Ajay Chavda, claimed there was no doctor present when they arrived with his niece, who had a fever and cough.
He alleged that when a doctor arrived, she raised her voice over how the thermometer was placed and later refused treatment after an argument, allegedly hitting his phone during the incident.
Hospital sources, however, said the doctor reacted after being repeatedly insulted by the family, who allegedly told her to “behave like a government servant.” Officials confirmed that the child was later treated by another doctor.Dr. Nehal Patel, head of the paediatrics department, said an internal inquiry has been launched to verify both sides.
Health Minister Praful Pansheriya has also ordered a probe by the Health Secretary, stating that action will be taken if any wrongdoing is found.
