Flight operations at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport are set to rise by 30% with the start of the winter schedule from October 26. Authorities said both domestic and international flights will see a notable increase, with more routes being added in the coming months.
Akasa Air will launch a new flight to Port Blair via Kolkata, operating three times a week, along with a new daily service to Bengaluru. IndiGo will start a daily flight to Dibrugarh and increase its Ahmedabad–Coimbatore route to four flights a week.
On the international front, Viajet will begin direct flights from Ahmedabad to Bangkok starting December 4, along with new connections to three cities in Vietnam — two flights to Da Nang, and one each to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
During the recent Diwali rush, passenger numbers at the airport jumped by 30%, with 44,000 travellers recorded on Dhanteras alone. The number of weekly flights also rose from 750 to 1,050 between October 18 and 23.
