Amid Diwali and New Year celebrations, parts of Gujarat witnessed sudden unseasonal rain and strong winds, with South Gujarat’s Valsad district hit hardest on Wednesday.
Heavy rain and mini cyclone-like conditions were reported in Dharampur, Kaprada, and several nearby villages, causing waterlogging and damaging parts of the District Seva Sadan building. Farmers have expressed concern over possible damage to winter crops due to the unexpected showers.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), unseasonal rain is likely to continue in South Gujarat, Sabarkantha, Mahisagar, and Aravalli, with intensity expected to rise after October 25. Light to moderate rain may also reach Saurashtra and Kutch regions.
Meanwhile, southern India is set to experience heavy rainfall between October 21 and 24, with Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Lakshadweep likely to receive moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds up to 40 kmph.
