Gujarat’s lawmakers are set to move into lavish new flats in Gandhinagar, built at a cost of ₹220 crore, following a recent cabinet reshuffle. The new residential complex, located in Sector 17, is expected to be inaugurated on October 23 by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.Spread across 12 nine-storey towers, the complex houses 216 flats, including 126 luxury apartments exclusively for MLAs.
Each flat, spread over 204 sq. metres, features three bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, office, waiting area, balcony, and a servant’s room.Every unit comes equipped with air-conditioning, 43-inch LED TVs, refrigerator, gas and electric geysers, and modern interiors.
The complex also boasts two landscaped gardens, a health club, auditorium, canteen, play area, community hall, and a swimming pool.
Despite these five-star amenities, MLAs will pay a token rent of just ₹37.50 per month — cheaper than a packet of milk. The new complex replaces the old, dilapidated MLA quarters and marks a major modernisation push in the state capital.
