Residents of Gujarat’s Valsad and nearby areas experienced mild tremors on Wednesday morning after a 2.5-magnitude earthquake struck at 8:25 am, according to the Seismological Research Institute.
The quake’s epicentre was located about 46 km from Valsad city, with tremors felt lightly across several rural and urban areas. Some residents briefly rushed outdoors in panic, but no casualties or damage were reported.
District authorities were placed on alert, and disaster management teams were asked to stay prepared. However, normalcy returned soon after the tremors. Officials urged citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading rumours, noting that such minor quakes highlight the importance of preparedness for future seismic events.
