In a major crackdown on counterfeit products, the Gadodar police in Rapar taluka’s Chitrod village busted a factory manufacturing fake Colgate toothpaste.After verifying with Colgate officials, police confirmed that the seized products were not genuine.
The accused — Rajesh Diyabhai Makwana, Suresh Maheshbhai Umat, Natwar Ajabhai Gohil, and Narpat alias Naru Diyabhai Makwana — allegedly used substandard materials, posing serious health risks to consumers.Police seized counterfeit toothpaste, packaging materials, and equipment worth ₹9.43 lakh from the site.
Cases have been registered under charges of fraud, copyright violation, and endangering public health.Authorities are now investigating the supply network to trace where the fake products were being distributed. Officials have also urged consumers to stay alert against counterfeit goods that can harm health and safety.
