The state’s Home Department has recorded the highest number of corruption cases, followed by the Revenue, Urban Development, and Panchayats departments, according to data released by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
Between June 2022 and May 2025, the ACB registered 653 cases against government employees for accepting bribes. Of these, 45% were against personnel from the Home Department, including traffic police and office staff.
The Revenue Department ranked second, with most cases linked to bribes for land deals and NOCs. Employees in the Panchayats Department were often caught demanding money to release funds under various government schemes. Other departments with notable complaints include Education, Health, and Finance.
Although the state government directed disciplinary measures like suspensions and charge sheets, the earlier anti-corruption campaign, Operation Gangajal, appears to have lost momentum. Officials said the drive, which once led to swift suspensions and demotions, has slowed down in recent months.
