In a major step to strengthen India–UK educational ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that nine leading universities from the United Kingdom will soon establish campuses across several Indian cities, including Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The announcement came during UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to India, which Modi said marks renewed momentum in bilateral relations following the recent Free Trade Agreement.
PM Modi shared that the University of Southampton’s Gurugram campus is already operational and has welcomed its first batch of students. “It is a matter of great joy that nine UK universities are now going to open campuses in India,” Modi said, adding that the delegation accompanying PM Starmer was one of the most significant from the UK’s education sector.
