Karwa Chauth is one of the most important Hindu festivals, observed on the fourth day of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) in the month of Kartik. Married women observe a nirjala vrat (fast without food or water) for the long life and good health of their husbands and worship Goddess Karwa Mata for happiness and prosperity in married life.
