A 32-year-old driver, Omkarnath Sukhnath Jogi, has filed a police complaint after silver ornaments worth nearly 71,000 were reportedly stolen from his rented home in Jagatpur while he was at work.
According to the complaint, the theft occurred between 4 am on September 20 and 6 pm on September 21. An unidentified burglar is believed to have broken open the iron safe in the living room and fled with the valuables.
Omkarnath, originally from Girdharpura village in Rajasthan and currently residing on Vande Mataram Road, Jagatpur, had left home early on September 20 to transport goods to Mundra Port in Kutch. His wife Mahima Kumari and their three children — Gopalnath (10), Manishnath (8), and Hiteshnath (4) — stayed at home.
The theft came to light when Mahima went to place a silver ring back in the safe around 6 pm on September 21 and found the locker broken, its contents scattered, and several items missing.
The stolen items include:
- Silver kandora (waist belt) weighing about 1 kg, valued at 60,000
- Pair of silver anklets (143 g) worth 8,000
- Two silver hand rings valued at 300
- Six silver toe rings estimated at 2,000
- Two silver bracelets (10 g) worth 600
- The total value of the stolen jewellery is 70,900.
Police have registered a case of theft against unidentified persons and an investigation is underway. A copy of the FIR has been provided to the complainant.
