Even as the southwest monsoon withdraws from several regions, parts of Gujarat continue to receive heavy rainfall, especially in Bhavnagar and Surat districts.
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, Mahuva in Bhavnagar and Palsana in Surat recorded nearly 3 inches of rain in the past 12 hours, while Umarpada received 2 inches. In all, 42 talukas reported rain on Monday.
Sagbara in Narmada and Bharuch also saw over an inch of rain. A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal could trigger more downpours during Navratri, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned.
A yellow alert has been issued for Bharuch, Narmada, Tapi, Navsari, and Valsad, with forecasts of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and wind speeds of 30–40 km/h. Light to moderate showers are also expected in Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Panchmahal, and Chhotaudepur.
