Bengaluru: A mid-air scare unfolded on Monday when a passenger on Air India Express flight IX-1086 from Bengaluru to Varanasi allegedly tried to open the cockpit door.
The individual ignored repeated crew warnings, prompting the pilot to suspect a possible hijack and alert security agencies. Cabin crew restrained the passenger until the aircraft landed safely at Varanasi Airport, where CISF personnel took him into custody for questioning.
An Air India Express spokesperson told to media, that the passenger was reportedly looking for the lavatory near the cockpit. “Safety and security protocols were not compromised. The matter is under investigation,” the airline added.
