The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday suggested a crackdown on cars with black-tinted windows as a safety measure during the Navratri festival.
Justice A S Supehia, during a contempt petition hearing, said black films are often misused and must be removed, especially during the nine-day celebration. The bench, comprising Justices Supehia and L S Pirzada, also praised the state government’s efforts in traffic and parking management.
Government Pleader G H Virk informed the court that police are already cracking down on helmetless riding, wrong-side driving, and encroachment. In the past month, 86 FIRs were filed for wrong-side driving, 21 vehicles seized, and 11,352 challans worth 2.43 crore issued.
